Aug. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- "I have successfully treated many children and adults alike with varying degrees of scoliosis.  It pains me to see that this condition is not always diagnosed and corrected early in childhood.  It can be difficult to manage as an adult. Scoliosis treated before full maturity is still the best way, and our methods incorporating chiropractic and other techniques can achieve great results," says Dr. Lau of Orchard Clinic, a Singapore based chiropractor. http://www.orchardclinic.com

Scoliosis shows in people as an abnormal sideways curve in their spine that makes an "S" or "C" shape and may cause back pain, stiffness and other related problems. It is more common in females and begins in childhood.

For the parents out there, an easy screening exam for scoliosis called the Adam's Forward Bending Test can be readily performed as follows.

Have the child bend forward at the hips as if they are trying to touch their toes. If you notice a prominence or hump where one side of their back is higher or lower then the other side then that is a positive Adam's Test.

On confirmation of a positive test, take your child to a chiropractor and take an x-ray so the severity of the problem can be determined.  Or for more information, Orchard Clinic is running regular scoliosis workshops including scoliosis screening.  The next workshop is on Saturday 15th August 2009, 2:00pm. http://www.spinal.com.sg

Chiropractic treatment can benefit people in many ways including sufferers of low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, whiplash, carpal tunnel and  fibromyalgia.
