Aug. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Literary luminaries and bold-faced names came out in force to support the East Hampton Library's 5th Annual Authors Night event, Saturday August 8th.

Legendary journalist Barbara Walters joined event co-chairs Alec Baldwin, Candace Bushnell and Jay McInerney, and 120 authors who signed their latest tomes for the enthusiastic throng of 1,000 event attendees.

"Real Housewives of New York" Bethenny Frankel and Countess Luann de Lesseps were on hand, joined by Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Caro, US Poet Laureate Billy Collins, and best-selling writers Nelson deMille, Stuart Woods, Florence Fabricant, Lorenzo Carcaterra, Steven Gaines, Dava Sobel, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and many more!

Actress Anne Heche stopped by after the East Hampton premiere of her new film "Spread," to lend support to friend, writer A.M. Homes. "Law & Order" star Mariska Hargitay mingled with the crowd, and "Inside the Actors Studio" host James Lipton, congratulated friend and Authors Committee Chair Barbara Goldsmith on the evening's success.

Immediately following the Authors Reception on the Library grounds, the largest simultaneous multi-site dinner party (perhaps in East End history!) took place as 605 guests sat down to 32 separate dinner parties across the region, all featuring one of the guest authors – including a dinner hosted by Rudy and Judith Giuliani, who hosted Barbara Walters and Jay McInerney at their home.

Last year's event raised nearly $150,000 for the East Hampton Library. East Hampton Library Director Dennis Fabiszak estimates that this year's event saw at least a 25% increase in funds raised to support the Library.

All proceeds from this special event benefit The East Hampton Library, a private, not-for-profit organization providing outstanding free library services to the East Hampton community. Literary
