Three years later, her father remarried and La Donna’s life became a living nightmare.  Her childhood and teen years were a blur of sexual and physical abuse.  Drugs and alcohol were constant companions in her dysfunctional, hellish world and La Donna lost all faith in God and humanity.  La Donna plummeted to rock bottom and the only way out was up.  

As an adult, she began the painful process of recovery through therapy, with the help and advice of a good friend.  Her friend, always believing in the kindness of God and strangers, advised La Donna to pray and accept Christ into her life.  La Donna had heard it all before and needed proof.  Little did she know that her proof was about to surface.

One night after watching an episode on Unsolved Mysteries, she felt an urgent need to write a letter—she wanted to find her mother’s family. Her request was broadcast and unbeknownst to her, La Donna’s maternal grandfather made the same prayer; he wanted to meet his granddaughter before he died.
   
The two were reunited—albeit a bittersweet meeting—and they began a wondrous, spiritual dance that led La Donna to a new life, a new awakening, and a miraculous beginning.
