Aug. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- Saturday June 6th, the International Press Association “Il Gotha del Gusto“ has nominated Villa le Barone “The best 2009 Relais in Chianti” and its owners, Count and Countess Aloisi de Larderel received the corresponding Diploma from the hands of Stephan de Cernetic, president of this Press Association.
Villa le Barone is a marvelous historic manor house, proud testimony of the history and the beauties of Chianti and Italy, close to the Romanesque church of S. Leolino and immersed in the enchanting landscape of the Chianti region.
Villa le Barone has been built on a defense tower during the Middle Age, at the time of the war between Florence and Sienna. At that time, the Chianti hills were covered with forests, as it appears that the name “Chianti” derives from the word “Clango”, the name of the hunting horns which were resonating in the woods. At the Renaissance, the tower was transformed in a farm, which became property of the Della Robbia family, famous for its sculptures and majolicas. At that time, noble Florentine families had their summer houses on the hills around Florence, and specially in Chianti. Villa le Barone was producing wine and olive oil for centuries until it was transformed by Duchess Visconti,  heir of the Della Robbia’s, into a Charm Hotel in 1976.

At Villa le Barone, you live in history, you relax walking through the green and romantic landscape of Chianti, you swim or play tennis in the middle of the Mediterranean vegetation... but you also taste the wonderful “Chianti Classico” wine, coming from the vineyards around, as well as the delights of the traditional Tuscan cuisine, made of simple products but absolutely fresh and of the best quality:olive oil, eggplants, tomatoes, peppers,.. Veal and beef meat comes from a family farm in the hills of Maremma, Vecchienna, where the Limousine cattle freely pasture, exclusively fed with grass and hay.

In the wonderful menu, do not miss the “Ricotta and Spinach Gnudis” with butter and sage, served for supper in the splendid terrace surrounded by greenery in a romantic candle light atmosphere. The “Tagliata with Ruccola” or the “Bistecca alla fiorentina” are also delights... and you will be able to take the recipes with you...

The attention and the care to details that the owners and the personnel reserve to their guests make Villa le Barone a marvelously pleasant place: surrounded by nature, out of time, you will taste a romantic atmosphere that will lead you in an unforgettable dream.
