August 2, 2009, Los Angeles, CA -- On June 25, 2009, arguably, the greatest entertainer of all-time departed this world. But, his spirit of philanthropy and giving lives on. Nothing is more demonstrable of this fact than the efforts, actions and living illustrations of Walter Anthony Bradford, Montelle Talley and Micki Watkins of Peoria, Illinois - the second city of President Obama's home state.
On stage, Montana, Talley, and Mickey Cheese are known collaboratively as "300" - a Peoria-based and Atlanta-transplanted rising hip hop trio.
But it’s not all about their music.
In the spirit of Michael Jackson and under the motivational direction of President Obama, these three young men have dedicated their lives to building up others within their community and generation.
Walter Anthony Bradford wprvr told us, "I was amazed at the awesome force that Michael Jackson was. Far reaching his obvious gift, here was a man that thirst for so much more for all of us, irrespective of gender or ethnicity. This was an individual who loved the world and who seemingly would have done anything to make it a better place for everybody. Between listening and learning about Michael Jackson and after hearing the recent NAACP speech of President Obama, I believe that it collectively awakened a new level of consciousness in each one of us."
In fact, when the guys received word that an intern (Honesty Brennan a.k.a. Digital Honesty) who they worked closely with under their management and P.R. firm, Posh Platinum, was potentially going to have to postpone her college education, they believed a calling was divined.
They contacted Posh and offered to do a benefit performance to assist in raising funds for the intern's tuition. Posh, loving the idea, put things into motion, and on August 18, 2009, "The 300 World Debut" will be presented live in College Park, GA, from the Crowe’s Nest Mega-Plex. The performance will be simulcast on 3GLive.TV and the online concert venue -UltimateDreamConcert.com (channel) for a global performance effort to build a better and brighter future for this Florida A & M University student.
Micki Watkins stated in a recent interview, "It only takes a spark to get a fire going. If everyone contributes a little, together we can do much. I think Michael would be proud."
