Nicholas Tse as General Manager of latest Marriott hotel in Hong Kong

Mr. Nicholas Tse is no stranger to many hoteliers in Hong Kong as he previously worked at the JW Marriott Hotel back in the 90s. Born and raised in United Kingdom, Tse is a graduate from Les Roches Hotel Management School of Switzerland. His hospitality career started in 1990 when he joined the Hong Kong JW Marriott Hotel as Senior Front Desk Officer. He then developed his career in sales direction and was Assistant Director of Sales in 1999 prior to his overseas appointments.
Tse commenced his overseas career at the 1st Renaissance Riverside Hotel brand in Saigon as the pre-opening team, followed by Singapore Marriott Hotel, Renaissance Seoul Hotel, pre-opening for Marriott Executive Apartments Yeouido Park Centre in Seoul, JW Marriott Bangkok and Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa respectively. Having worked with the same hotel group for 17 years, Tse is a true home grown “Marriott Associate”, spearheading many hotels’ pre-opening, re-branding, renovation projects, and being the strategic leader in a number of operations as well as sales & marketing assignments in the past years. His last role was General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok where he set up the pre-opening team for the 1st Courtyard brand in Thailand and successfully led the hotel to rank No. 1 out of 17 Courtyard by Marriott Hotels in Asia Pacific in terms of Guest Satisfaction Survey within 2 years of its opening, plus, winning the global award for Courtyard brand as the “New Opening Hotel of the Year 1998” from the corporate head office in Washington DC.
Tse’s extensive overseas working experience has empowered him with a good knowledge in different cultures and best practices, which makes him highly adaptable when working in different parts of the world. Besides, being a British born Chinese, he has the best of both Western and Asian worlds where he can confidently deal with people from all walks of life.
“I am very excited about my new capacity at the SkyCity Marriott as I started out at the first Marriott hotel in Hong Kong two decades ago and now I am back home working for a brand new Marriott property. With all the upcoming infrastructure developments in the airport area together with the expansion plan of both Hong Kong Disneyland and AsiaWorld-Expo, I am confident that there will be lots of business potential for SkyCity Marriott which is strategically located on the edge of Lantau Island,” says Tse.
Speaking of personal interests, Tse is also diversified. He loves to read (especially business-management and self-improvement related titles), travel, play sports including squash, cricket, rugby, and go-kart speeding in his spare time. He is married to his Korean wife and enjoys playing board games with his 7-year old son.
