July 28, 2009 - PRLog -- The well timed London event in June of 2009 was held to a capacity audience of visiting CEO’s, Managing Partners, Solicitors and senior representatives from law firms ranging from top 10 city law firms to a range of small and mid sized regional based firms of all sizes. Focusing upon a wide range of strategic information, the event provided presentations and case studies that went far beyond retaining profit and flowed into cost reduction and environment sustainability issues that can easily be followed to deliver cost reductions of tens of thousands of pounds on a yearly basis.

The one day conference hosted well known industry speakers such as Prof. Stephen Mayson, Alan Hodgart, Rupert Kendrick, Barry Wilkinson, Peter Warner, Tim Aspinall (DMH Stallard), Mike Gannaway (Denton Wilde Sapte), Elaine Radford (DLA Piper / Legal Sector Alliance) as well as senior representatives from both Lloyds TSB and The Royal Bank of Scotland.

“The aim of this series of events is to provide law firms of all sizes with information to overcome recession related issues that firms are currently experiencing” said Frances Anderson, Founding Director of Netlaw Media. “One of the highlights of constructing this event was the speakers who understood our aim and volunteered their time to help construct one of the most informative law conferences of the year. The end goal of this series of events” continued Anderson “is to deliver a wide range of information that not only helps law firms stay ahead of the recession, but more importantly to help secure the jobs of the thousands of employees who’s families rely on these firms’ to keep their doors open”.

Nick Holmes of Infolaw, one of the UK’s most respected on-line legal publications writes “Delivering the Keynote, Prof Stephen Mayson summed up the challenges. Not only is the legal profession facing severe recession, but it faces an increasing erosion of its dominance of the legal services market as "non-reserved" activities are increasingly more efficiently being delivered by alternative providers like AA Legal Services, The Co-operative Legal Services and the government itself via the Legal Services Commission and DirectGov. The outlook is bleak though smaller firms may face such competition through alliances such as the Legal Alliance and Quality Solicitors. To better serve clients demanding ever better value firms must abandon time-based billing and reduce overcapacity - not just too many people, but people doing the wrong jobs.”

Following the success of the London date, the one day conference will be visiting Bristol on the 14th October 2009 and Manchester on the 20th October 2009. Topics that will be covered during the day will include strategies for retaining profit during a recession, cost reduction, business development, cash flow, raising capital, restructuring, risk and compliance and practice management.

At each event, two panel discussions will be taking place, ‘restructuring and are the strategies working’ with Prof Stephen Mayson and also ‘the financial challenges and how law firms can prepare for a deepening recession’ where senior representatives of both Lloyds TSB and The Royal bank of Scotland will be answering open questions from the delegation.

In addition to speaker presentations and case studies, the event will also give delegates the opportunity to join one of five interactive ‘round table’ workshops, a series of one to one confidential meetings with leading strategists’ and advisors’ to discuss problem areas and several networking opportunities with senior representatives from a large range of law firms and associations.

The price of the delegate pass includes – speaker presentations, panel discussions, workshops, a series of one to one meetings, exhibitions, networking, coffee and snack breaks, hot buffet lunch, drinks reception and 5 hours accredited CPD.

An early bird special of £99 + vat is offered to delegates who book before 30th August 2009 and includes 5 hours accredited CPD.

Delegate passes for the event are strictly limited with an early sell out fully anticipated
