July 27, 2009 - PRLog -- FOLSOM, CA (September 19) – Famed “Rock Star of the Art World,” Michael Godard – the man who made the martini olive famous – is set to appear at American Visions Art Gallery in Folsom on Saturday, September 19.  The one-night event, located at 718 Sutter Street, Suite 102, is from 3-8 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public, but space is limited and RSVPs are required.

The event will display a large Godard inventory of original and limited edition art and assorted other items.  In addition, he will also feature live original sketches while guests enjoy wine tasting from Miraflores and Storey Winery and chocolate strawberries from Shari’s Berries.

American Visions will feature some of Godard’s newest pieces - including, “Grape Bath” “Warhol” and “Cashtini” – in addition to old favorites.  Guests can also expect to see canvas highlighting by Godard, as well as autographing pieces purchased from the gallery.  According to Gallery Director, Gabrielle Stark, “Godard will be auctioning off one of his paintings where proceeds benefit The Sharon Osbourne Cancer Foundation and Starlight Starbright Children’s Charity.” Stark said, adding that “Last year’s event was awesome.  Everyone stayed to watch him paint and talk to the audience.  He puts on a real show and you feel like you’re with a Rock Star!  We had all ages come, it was really something.”    Anyone wanting to attend may sign up on the gallery website www.avartgallery.com  or may call the gallery (916) 351-1623.  Space is limited, so the gallery encourages early registration.

Wes and Judi Harris, clients with the gallery, and volunteers at many of the shows were enthusiastic about the event  and went on to say “We arranged our calendars around this show.  Michael Godard makes you feel like you are the only person in the room with him.  My Gosh! He talks to you like you’ve known him all your life.  We love him and that’s why we’ve volunteered again this year to help out with the show.  He is so inventive and makes us laugh.”   This is the artist’s third stop at American Visions Art Gallery in Folsom.

Godard has made a name for himself by bringing to life animated martini olives, grapes, cherries and strawberries that scream “rock ‘n’ roll.”  Godard’s designs are often subtle in humor, but occasionally show the blatant and daring antics of the animated edibles.  Several of his pieces feature pastimes like dancing and gambling, as well as raising a ruckus – on the streets of New York, onstage at rock concerts, at the beach, and in glasses of champagne.  His art is innovative, creative and speaks to the rebel in “Olive” us.

Godard’s talent and popularity are far-reaching.  His art is collected by young and old alike, and can be seen in the homes of celebrities, rock stars and even on the walls of the Officer’s Lounge in the Pentagon.  Godard’s paintings are viewed by fans stateside and abroad on cruise ships; in hotels, galleries, and magazines; as well as on television and online.

Godard’s art has earned him high recognition. A documentary based on his life received accolades at an independent film festival.  Likewise, Godard’s book, “Don’t Drink and Draw, The Life of Michael Godard” was named “Art Book of the Year.”  American Visions Art Gallery is excited to have such an amazing artist return to die-hard fans in Folsom.

American Visions Art Gallery of Folsom is part of the American Visions family owned fine art and custom frame galleries that prize a love of art, life-long knowledge, and personal service.  Located in Historic Folsom, California, American Visions Gallery has been a landmark for tourists and regulars alike. With a relaxed atmosphere, impressive art from world renowned artists, an espresso bar and live music, gallery staff remind clients and visitors that “Art Soothes the Soul.”  American Visions’ owner is Giovanna Stark, who began collecting art as early as most people would feel was possible – in her early teens.  “One beautiful piece each year,” was her motto, starting when she was in high school working in her parent’s grocery store in Grass Valley, through college and raising a family.  Now her personal collection and her contacts with artists in the United States, Asia, Latin America, and Italy have led to strengthening the artist movement in Northern California and full-service galleries.  Earlier this year she received the Arts Achievement Award from the Folsom City Council, and the gallery has received 12 awards for it’s achievements in the arts within the past 5 years.
