July 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Numb (2007)

I just finished watching this, it was great from start to finish. I highly recommend watching this one; the performances were fantastic by the cast. This is Matthew Perry’s best performance yet playing a depressed screenwriter with a mental disorder named Hudson. Lynn Collins from X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) stars alongside him as Sara and they had such incredible chemistry together I haven’t seen in a long while. It’s rare to see actors work so well together, this is one of those movies where you get the chance to see them compliment each other in the scenes they share.

There are more noteworthy actors in this including Kevin Pollak as Tom, Mary Steenburgen is Dr. Cheryl Blaine, Bob Gunton is Dr. Townsend, Brian George is Dr. Richmond and William B. Davis (from the X-Files television series) is Peter.

The character Hudson continues to struggle with reality, and in the process he finds a woman that gives him comfort in his life, and he sees a future with her but this also scares him.
He has tried many different types of therapy and nothing to this point has worked for him. What he fails to realize is what he needs most in life, he needs love and understanding. His childhood wasn’t completely ideal, and most of the people he has interacted with have not understood him. The professional opinion is he suffers from acute depersonalization disorder an unusual mental problem. Will he work things out in his life? You might be surprised, check this one out.

Perfect Stranger (2007)

This wasn’t what I expected it to be, I thought it was a bit more mysterious than it was originally advertised, which was a good thing. The movie had a dampened feel to it like there was something wrong, I guess this added to the mood of the movie.

I didn’t quite understand the ending entirely and the clues that were pieced together showing who the killer was. The cast each brought their extra something to the characters, and I did think that helped. It is one of those movies you will probably not guess how it will end, and those are always fun to watch if you like mystery/thriller movies. The leading actors in this one are Halle Berry as Rowena Price, Bruce Willis as Harrison Hill, and Giovanni Ribisi as Miles Haley. Other appearances include: Richard Portnow as Narron, Gary Dourdan as Cameron, Florencia Lozano as Lieutenant Tejada with Nicki Aycox as Grace.

This was directed by James Foley, who also directed movies like Fear (1996) starring Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon. He did a good job with this one also but, the story seemed like there was something left out, and at times it was hard to follow along. I think the audience for a movie like this is difficult to find, and it no doubt was tough to market for. The screenplay was done by Todd Komarnicki and Jon Bokenkamp treated the storyline. It’s good for a weekend watch to curl up with your wife or husband on the sofa while you hold one another tightly. I will recommend it, but it wasn’t the best thriller I’ve ever seen. It’s worthy of a watch though.

This is an oldie, but a pretty decent movie; its two leading actors went on to do other things. And the story was good for the time period it was released. It stars a much younger Jon Cryer from the television series Two and a Half Men playing a semi-professional photographer, and a much younger Demi Moore playing the role of Laura Victor a struggling singer.

The storyline is fairly simple and straightforward he is out taking photos, and sees her in one of the shots that he took at the start of the film, from that moment on he becomes completely infatuated with her, and he is determined to help her reach success by any means.
