Follow on Google News | Paw Prints The Magazine Offers Hope and a Plan for Pet-Owners faced with Relinquishing a Family PetPaw Prints The Magazine has launched a special FREE classified section on our website that is dedicated to pet-owners that want to choose their pet’s new home rather than leaving their pet at a shelter or have simply found that there is no room.
This recession claims new victims and breaks hearts every day. We want to ease some of that pain. Kansas City, Missouri (July 20, 2009) As you may already know, the current state of the economy has animal shelters and rescue groups are busting at the seams. However, there is no shortage of people asking to relinquish their pets at those facilities As unthinkable as it may seem to other pet-owners, there are many out there in such severe financial distress that feel as if they are at the point that they have no choice but to give up their pet(s). It is for that reason the Paw Prints The Magazine has decided to launch a special FREE classified section on our website that will be specifically dedicated to pet-owners in that situation that would prefer to choose their pet’s new home rather than leaving their beloved pet at a shelter or those that have simply found that there is no room at the inn - people often find that “no kill” or “low kill” shelters in their area and rescue groups are simply full. Magazine partner and Editor-In-Chief, Stacy Smith says, “People are in very serious financial trouble out there and we wanted to come up with something we could do to help. We don’t have any pet-products or pet-services to donate and even if we did, it couldn’t possibly make a dent in the situation. While we know that relinquishment of a beloved member of the family is indescribably heart wrenching, the reality is that people are having trouble buying groceries, keeping the lights on and losing their homes. What we have to offer is real estate on our website and substantial web traffic that will get these pets in need of homes seen by other pet lovers and the hope that at the very least, a pet-owner in this situation might be both empowered and comforted by the ability to choose their pet’s new home.” One of the things that will make our listings more helpful to visitors will be the ability for pet owners to include a photo that when clicked on, opens up into a much larger image on the screen. That will help potential adopters get a much better look at the pet they’re considering than a small thumbnail that can often be difficult to see. In order to help pet-owners with this process we will also have posted some information and tips to aid in finding their pet a new home – including tips ranging from how to make their pet “more adoptable” to how to take a good photo of their pet. We will also make available other information and resources including a pet-owner release/transfer agreement so things will be official once a new family is chosen.
