July 22, 2009 - PRLog -- The Action On Film International Film Festival which will run July 24-31, is proud to announce that they will showcase the controversial new film, "VICKtory To the Underdog", the story of the rescue of animals which were used by ex-pro football player Michael Vick for blood sport. This is an extremely different approach to the story that starkly contrasts similar projects done by Animal Planet. The film is bold and uncensored and is centered around heavily tattooed celebrities who are all too familiar with criminal activity and animal abuse.
This premiere comes at a time when Michael Vick is beginning his return to football and is currently done with his imposed incarceration. Speculation about his return is at an all time high, and this film is the first of its kind, suggesting an entirely different take on the animal rights point of view, created by people well known in the pit bull rehabilitation industry.
Legendary Tattoo Artist and Animal Rights Activist Brandon Bond put his name, money and talents to good use by independently funding and directing this entire project. His intense documentary raises some very important questions about our society, values and the direction we are heading. As well as actually suggesting that Michael Vick actually may deserve a second chance.
"This is a tragic story with a happy ending," said Del Weston, AOF Festival Creator, it isn't often you can raise money to save animals and show a great film at the same time. We are proud to do it."
The film stars well known actors Danny Trejo, Bob Barker, Donal Logue, Michael Berryman, Pixie Acia and many other stars and activists. The documentary will screen on Wednesday July 29, 2009 6pm at the Laemmle Theater Playhouse 7 and will be immediately followed by a private party at the Bar Celona Restaurant and Bar in Pasadena. The proceeds from the screening and after party will go directly to benefit two worthy charities including Villa Lobos Animal Rescue Center and the Linda Blair World Heart Foundation.
AOF Marketing director Krystal Rose said, 'Not only are we proud to have this film premiere with AOF but people will be able to come out to the event and meet their favorite stars, help an amazing cause, see a fantastic film and possibly take part of a show on Animal Planet as they will be on hand to document the anticipated event."
