July 22, 2009 - PRLog -- Special thank you goes out to the Centre at Arbor Connection for serving as the location sponsor for this free workshop.  Along with experiencing the Centre at Arbor Connection, attendees will hear about other fabulous venues around town.  According to Leslie Karr with The Knot, venue selection is a bride’s top priority.

Leslie Karr is special guest speaker from The Knot and will be an added element to this Bridal Boot Camp. Leslie will speak about wedding planning and how The Knot has listened to brides and those in the wedding industry and created a website assisting them in their wedding planning needs.

In an interview with Karr, Randi Miles asked questions about trends and changes in the wedding industry due to current economic conditions.

Q: In general, how has the economy affected weddings?

A: Generally speaking, the wedding industry is recession resistant.  Couples are still getting married, no matter the economic climate.  The Knot's 2008 Real Wedding Survey, conducted amongst 18,000 brides nationwide, reflected greater wedding spending overall, despite the growing economic concerns last year. In a more recent survey conducted by The Knot (in March 2009) a majority of brides (60%) indicated that their wedding spending is proceeding according to plan, while 40% have reduced their wedding budgets by approximately 16%.

Q: Are brides considering venues that they normally would not have considered due to pricing concerns?

A: The venue remains one of the top priority items in wedding planning, and typically that's where the majority of the budget is dedicated.  Trends indicate that brides are looking for unique locations, such as historical buildings, vineyards, and other outdoor venues.

Bridal Boot Camp II presents brides with information on planning local weddings in Douglasville, as well as prepares them for the planning process. “Organization is key to planning any event. The more informed you are, the more you know about what to expect and what questions to ask. My best advice is to find experts you feel comfortable with, share your visions, and allow them to do their job and be the expert. At our Bridal Boot Camp we want to introduce local and regional brides-to-be to these experts so they can plan the wedding of their dreams and truly enjoy it without breaking the bank,” states Special Project Manager, Kimberly Weaver.

The Douglasville Convention and Visitors Bureau offers Bridal Boot Camp as a free workshop to anyone that wants to attend. The CVB plans to have this workshop bi-annually, prior to the Spring and Fall wedding seasons in order to assist brides-to-be with their upcoming nuptials. Seating is limited so please contact Randi Miles at (678) 715-6069 or milesr@ci.douglasville.ga.us to register in advance.
