July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- New York, NY - The Lobby Gallery at 499 Park Avenue, the I.M. Pei designed office tower in New York City, is now graced with the vibrant and complex works of two New York based artists, Emily Cheng and Ann Pachner.  Hines, the international real estate firm is sponsoring the exhibit, which opened July 15 and remains on view through October 30, 2009.  In today's competitive real estate market, fine art, when displayed in a commercial venue such as this, helps to set a building apart from its competitors, aids in its marketing efforts, and provides a unique amenity for existing and prospective tenants.

It provides tenants and visitors with an inviting and dynamic display of traditional and digital prints, small wood sculpture and drawings to enjoy and contemplate as they pass through the lobby.  Each artist uses color, patterns, archetypal symbols and forms to explore cross-cultural and universal themes. The contrasting elements, yet parallel approach to their work, are in perfect counterpoint.

In an essay for the exhibition catalog, Steven Alexander, painter and Associate Professor of Art at Marywood University, writes:

"The title of the exhibition "CrossCurrents" calls attention to the notion that each artwork is a small moment in a vast historical current of human creation, a microcosm of an inclusive dynamic regenerative organism. This ocean of meaning is the fertile arena in which both Ann Pachner and Emily Cheng operate as artists, fluently adapting and integrating image impulses from myriad ancient streams through contemporary processes and conceptual practice. . . .Indeed it is this deep commitment to art as a timeless vehicle for regenerative transformation that ultimately unites these two distinctive artists. Through a translucent fusion of ancient currents of meaning with the complex courses of the contemporary world, they engage in the fundamental and purely human process of giving form to consciousness."

Dorothy Solomon, art consultant and President of DSA Fine Arts, curated the exhibit, the second in a series of three for 2009.  DSA Fine Arts provides a full range of art consulting and other fine art services, including art acquisition and collection management programs, art exhibitions and events to corporate clients and private collectors.  All works in the exhibition are for sale.
