July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Kimberton, PA  - David and Edie Griffiths, owners of Seven Stars Farm, announced today that their Original Seven Stars Organic Plain Yogurt has received the first place award in the category of “Organic Yogurt: Plain” in a recent nationwide survey of health food retailers conducted by Organic Products Retailer magazine.  The survey's results will be published in the July/August 2009 Stellar Organic Awards issue of OPR.

In this its first year, the Stellar Organic Awards are planned to be a regular feature of OPR.   Its sister publication, Vitamin Retailer magazine, has long recognized the best-selling products in the dietary supplement industry with its annual “Vity Awards”.  According to Kate Quackenbush, editor in chief, "we decided it was high time to bestow the same recognition on the top organic products."  The awards are based upon a national survey of OPR’s organic retailer readership.

Since its introduction in 1988, Seven Stars Organic Plain Yogurt has enjoyed a loyal and growing band of fans.  It is produced in small batches on the farm using only unhomogenized organic whole milk and yogurt cultures.  No artificial flavors, thickeners or dried milk are added.  Consumers praise its clean, fresh taste and European style texture.  Its distinctive golden cream top layer can be used as a spread or mixed back into the yogurt.

Owner David Griffiths attributes the product’s success to a combination of factors.  "Organically managed soils help produce good pastures and healthy, happy cows.  Being involved in every aspect of production from growing crops to the finished yogurt is extremely challenging.  This award is a testimony to the dedication to quality practiced every day by the Seven Stars Farm team of farmers and yogurt makers.”
