Academy at Sisters Receive Visit from University of Arizona and Canadian Students

Past residents of the Academy at Sisters assist staff with leading a therapy group to help the current Academy at Sisters students.

July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Last week The Academy at Sisters was visited by a student from the University of Arizona and a student from Kelowna in British Columbia, Canada.   Both students are past residents of the Academy at Sisters came back to visit their “home away from home” and to assist staff with leading a therapy group to help the current Academy at Sisters students.  http://www.academyatsisters.org   One of the visiting students is majoring in psychology.

Elana, visiting from the University of Arizona, explained what the Academy at Sisters means to her, “I owe the staff and system at the Academy so much. If I can help any of the current students at the Academy it will only be a partial repayment for all the great mentoring I had while I was here.”

Dr. Julie Schneider  added, “These girls graduated from the Academy and are returning to give back, it is such a strong message on the quality of treatment and learning that goes on at the Academy”. Dr. Schneider is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Bend and holds a license in School Psychology. She has recently opened a practice in Bend Oregon.

The Academy at Sisters is the northwest’s premier therapeutic boarding school for at-risk girls between the ages of 13-19, located in beautiful Bend, Oregon.
