New Law Office Focusing on Men Emphasizes Children’s Emotions during Divorce

July 16, 2009 - PRLog -- One of the largest concerns of divorcing fathers is how their child will handle the divorce emotionally. In 2008, the Center for Disease Control reported 71,043 divorces in the state of Florida between January and October. Many of these divorcing families include children. July has been recognized as National Child-Centered Divorce Month as a time to help parents understand how to be cognizant of how their divorce will affect their children, and make the well-being of the children their focus during the marital dissolution.

A good starting point is by initiating honest, age-appropriate communication. Discussing divorce with your kids can be difficult, and needs to be handled with care.

Children often think that they may have done something wrong to have caused the divorce. Make sure you reassure them, and let them know that it was in no way their fault.

Show your child how much you still love them, now and throughout the divorce process. Continue to stay involved in your child’s life even if you are not living in the same house. Attend their practices, take them on special outings and tuck them in at night.

During a divorce, your home and savings are not the only things that will be on the table. Attorney Joseph Cordell of Cordell & Cordell, P.C. started one of the most successful law firms that focus on men’s domestic relations cases. “Suddenly at issue were all the assets they’ve spent a lifetime accumulating, what’s more at risk in today’s family law climate is a father’s role in his children’s lives,” said Cordell.

Cordell has devoted his practice to offer full support for fathers faced with these complicated issues. One way he has done so was by founding DadsDivorce.com for the purpose of informing fathers about their rights during divorce litigation, while providing them with concrete, practical resources to achieve the best results in the courtroom.

Dealing with divorce is difficult; Cordell & Cordell, P.C. strives to break through stereotypes, and fight for the dad. Today they announced the opening of a new office in Orlando, Florida, which will broaden the opportunities for divorcing dads to gain information and counsel.
