July 16, 2009 - PRLog -- This morning on ‘Start the Week’ http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/ listened with interest to an interview with the CEO of HSBC bank, in which he said that two thirds of his bank’s business is transacted overseas.

“Stephen Green (is) the Chairman of one of the world’s largest banks, HSBC, and an ordained priest in the Church of England. In his book, Good Value: Reflections on Money, Morality and an Uncertain World, he argues that the current financial crisis is a chance to take stock. He suggests that both businesses and individuals work best when they follow a set of moral values rather than simply chase profit,” said the BBC description of the item in the program.

HSBC stands apart from most other banks listed in the UK in that it has huge presence in the Asia, and this has undoubtedly been a factor in its outperforming Lloyds, Barclays and the infamous Royal Bank of Scotland.

Mr Green’s concerns for good practice align well with the drive for sustainable growth and environmental concern that is a feature of many of the Asian resort development projects now on the books of DSR Asset Management, projects his bank may well have helped to finance.

At the luxury end of the market there is a drive to build using materials such as local hardwoods, to enhance rather than degrade the natural landscape with low-profile and attractive design, and to minimise negative environmental impact while enhancing local economies.

Recent examples of this include the Song Saa private island micro resort in Cambodia, where a marine biologist has been hired full-time to monitor water, wildlife, and act as a reef guide.

Echo Beach in temperate South Australia gives investors the chance to share in prime beach land while the developers seek planning permission to build eco – homes on the site, in principle a development that the local council is not averse to, and where success in obtaining permission will multiply the vale of the land held by private freehold investors and that retained by the development team.

On the beautiful underdeveloped Koro Island in Fiji land is being offered for building. The vernacular house style is practical, beautiful, uses sustainable rainforest building materials, and collects direct from the environment rain and stream water, and solar energy.

DSR is offering investors the opportunity to enter the emerging eco market. These investments have huge intrinsic worth, and as eco-tourism demand rises will prove to be generators of high quality of life and income for years to come.

“Asset management is not just about carefully selecting the very best beach or city property in growth areas,” said DSR’s David Redfern, “it is also about managing the generation of rental income and capital appreciation”

DSR Asset Management Ltd has a select international portfolio of overseas property in some of the best regions around the globe for growth, income and quality of life.
