Hindustan launches “Hindustan Coaching Scholarship”- a unique initiative to provide kids from economically weaker sections with a springboard for success

July 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Hindustan, the fastest growing daily in the Hindi heartland has announced the launch of “The Hindustan Coaching Scholarship”.  Through this program, Hindustan provides students from not-so-robust financial backgrounds, with an opportunity to the finest coaching available, to help ensure a bright future for them.  The Hindustan Coaching Scholarship is presented in association with Brilliant Tutorials, whereby selected class 10 students will be enrolled in best-in-class classroom coaching for IIT JEE+PMT entrance tests, absolutely free of cost.
Speaking about the initiative Gowri S. Kapre, VP Marketing says, “Hindustan as a brand stands for youth empowerment. We are focused on preparing the youth in the Hindi heartland to make the most of the opportunities that abound in India today. In that context, education and career-oriented training programs, especially amongst the economically weaker sections of society, assumes utmost significance. Through this initiative we aim to provide bright and deserving students from modest backgrounds, the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with students from privileged backgrounds and put their best foot forward towards a bright future.
“The genesis of the idea lies in the fact that in a developing country like India, the youth often have to shelve their dreams of higher education due to the paucity of funds. Through this scholarship program Hindustan aims to bridge this gap between dreams and reality. The fact that Brilliant Tutorials, one of the leading coaching institutions in the country, is partnering the event, only adds to its potency”, said Amit Chopra, Business Head of Hindustan.
The scholarship program is open to all students who have passed their class 10 exams from a school in Delhi, UP, Bihar or Jharkhand and whose monthly family income is less than Rs.20,000.  Students who want to avail of the scholarship have to fill in a simple form which will be printed in Hindustan, and register for the exam.  Post this, they will have to appear in an entrance test to be held on the 5th of July.  Selected candidates will begin the two-year course (which runs concurrently with their Class XI and XII) towards the end of July.   All details about this initiative are available in the Hindustan newspaper regularly.
In order to raise awareness about the program so that the maximum number of students can benefit from it, a high-decibel multi media campaign is being launched.  A 360 degree plan comprising of TV, Print, Radio, Outdoor and New Media will drive salience for this mega activity.
All in all, an initiative aimed at shaping our future, by a newspaper that has been an integral part of our past.
