July 10, 2009 - PRLog -- How many actually read that round sticker on the bottom of your candles?   If you do, then that's a good sign you know how to care for your candles properly.    Now, for those that never  knew there was a sticker on the botom: now you know.  http://candlesbycreation.com stated the reason those round stickers are placed on the bottom of candles is to promote candle safety and increase the burn time of your candle.   To take care of your scented or unscented candles such as those in jars start by trimming the wick or if your candle has multiple wicks trim all of them down to 1/4 inch.  By trimming your wicks this reduces soot and controls the flame.  This also helps make your candle burn longer.  Never burn container candles longer than 4 hours at a time.   Always keep away from materials that may catch fire.  Example:  Do not place any lit candles near drapery or on a stack of newspapers.   Always place your lit candle on a solid level flat surface.   Place a ceramic tile under your glass container candles to reduce scorching any surface you would like to protect.   Keep your lit candles away from drafts to prevent wax from splattering and fires.  Never move your candle when it is lit.  Most glass container candles will be very hot after burning so keep away from pets and children.   Never leave a burning candle unattended.  In other words if you are going outside to do yard work or leaving for the store then extinguish your candle before leaving.    One last note wicks are normally placed in what is called a tab as a safety measure and to prevent the wick from burning all the way down to the very bottom of the container.   So when you have about 1/4" of wax left your candle should not be relit.

Below is what most candle care labels read:

Example:
Container Burning Instructions.
For best results burn 4 hours at a time and away from flammable materials.  To prevent smoking and soot buildup, keep wick centered and trimmed to 1/4"  Keep out of drafts and away from children and pets..  Do not move candle while burning or if wax is hot .  Discontinue use when only 1/4"  of wax remains.  NEVER LEAVE A BURNING CANDLE UNATTENDED!
