Neath Rugby Club Doctor Appointed High Sherrif of West Glamorgan

Neath Rugby are delighted that club doctor Bryn John has been appointed High Sherrif of West Glamorgan and will continue his duties as club doctor while providing hospitality and supporting charities in the local area.

Neath Rugby are delighted that club doctor Bryn John has been appointed High Sherrif of West Glamorgan and will continue his duties as club doctor while providing hospitality and supporting charities in the local area.

Dr John was selected as High Sherrif for 2009-2010 by the Queen, after being advised by the Lord Chancellor in November 2007 and was inaugurated on 7th April 2009.

Since starting Dr John has already attended 40 functions, including the installation of the Mayors of West Glamorgan, attended the Neath YMCA Good Friday breakfast as his 1st official function, Services for the D Day commemoration, Armed Forces Day together with a dinner in the Inner Temple in London.
As part of his role he has also visited schools and is working closely with the police to introduce a deputy sheriffs scheme for schoolchildren in NPT.
Another remit of his duties is to present High Sheriff Awards to people who have given service to the community within the County of West Glamorgan. With the Lord Lieutenant he will also be involved with the greeting of Royalty when they visit the county.
A forthcoming event in the High Sherrif’s calander is a Charity Golf day which will be held in Neath Golf Club with Neath Rugby fans more than welcome to attend.

He has been part of the Neath Rugby set up since the 1980’s and is a integral part of our squad on a matchday. We are confident he will do a splendid job as high sherrif of West Glamorgan, and represent the local vacinity well, just like he has done for Neath Rugby for the past 20 years.     We wish him all the best.”
