Follow on Google News | Smooth Hound offers Travel Deals for Michael Jackson Tribute in LondonThe world was saddened on June 25th with the loss of one of the greatest entertainers of all time, resulting in the cancelation of his much anticipated concert tour.
By: Smooth Hound For those with plans to travel to London for the concert series, who now find themselves holding non-refundable airline tickets, all hope is not lost. You can book a room through Smooth Hound and still visit the city to take in one of the tributes to the late star. As reported by MSNBC, most of Jackson’s concert series at London’s O2 arena has been canceled, and ticket holders will not only get a refund on tickets, but when they turn in their tickets, they will receive a commemorative ticket, memorializing the star. However one show will go on, with a variety of superstars singing Jackson’s songs. It is rumored that stars such as Madonna will be performing. Fox News is currently reporting that AEG Music is attempting to continue with the entire tour; however it would feature the remaining members of the Jackson 5 and feature other stars standing in to play Jackson’s part. Details are not readily available and the question of what would happen to those fans still holding tickets is not clear. Jackson’s influence on music is undeniable, but he was also a global activist on a number of issues. He was also friends with Diana, Princess of Wales. The two often exchanged late night phone calls to support one another in the frustration over the constant press attention. Many news outlets are comparing the sudden death of Jackson to the sudden death of the Princess, calling him “America’s Princess Diana”. One site to see in the upcoming months will be the Michael Jackson statue to be erected at Harrod’s in London. As reported in the London Telegraph on June 26, 2009, Mr. Fayed said that Jackson had asked if he could have a statue in the store next to his own, stating that Harrod’s was one of Jackson’s “favorite places”. The Harrod’s founder agreed saying “I knew him very well”. Plans have been discussed with an artist and it should be complete in a couple of months, although an exact date is unknown. A memorial statue of Jackson’s friend, Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed already stands in the store. Contact: Smooth Hound www.smoothhound.co.uk P O Box 343, Cheltenham GL50 3YX, UK.
