July 2, 2009 - PRLog -- As a national associate member of the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA), Dr. Lisa works primarily with highly custom machine shops and job shops.  Her program, the Velocity Scheduling System Coaching Program, has helped a number of NTMA members to reduce lead-times, reduce chaos and to increase due date performance.

Dr. Lisa explained why productivity improvements are particularly important during recessionary times.

“The VSS System provides a mechanism to determine where you can cut and have the least impact on your ability deliver.  But more importantly, when everyone has a market constraint, it is of the utmost importance that we deliver on our promises.  There are too many competitors awaiting an opportunity to supply.”

NTMA members and non-members alike also report an improvement in cash flow, being able to produce more with less, and increased profits.

“These companies are in a great position during a down economy because they are delivering faster and as promised, at a competitive price.  Some are taking advantage of their improved performance to take market share.  While their competitors are cutting people and getting worse on delivery, they are getting better and winning more business."

"Then coming out of the recession, they will be able to take advantage of acquisition opportunities and gobble up great deals on equipment.”

The Velocity Scheduling System Coaching Program is based on Theory of Constraints and its Drum Buffer Rope (DBR) application.  It is surprisingly affordable and is done on-line to eliminate the typical travel expenses associated with getting consulting help.  This makes it the perfect application when everyone is watching their budgets.

Dr. Lisa, a TOCICO certified expert in Theory of Constraints who recently served as Goldratt’s Global Marketing Director is the President of the Science of Business.

Theory of Constraints was first introduced in 1984 by Eliyahu M Goldratt with the publication of the best selling business novel The Goal, a book about operations in a manufacturing plant.
