Hilary Clinton Undeterred By Elbow Accident

Hilary Rodham Clinton fracturing her right elbow, will not deter the President’s right hand woman.

June 30, 2009 - PRLog -- During the run up to the presidential election, in March 2008, one of Barak Obama’s top senior advisers after blurted out “Hilary Clinton’s a monster.” Clinton had attacked Obama’s lack of experience in matters of foreign affairs.

However, this was the fartherest thing from the minds of those who were invited to a recent private dinner party convened at former Secretary of State Madeline Albright’s home in Washington. Diplomats from five previous administrations, came together to give honour to the current Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Among those gathered were Henry Kissinger, George Shultz, James Baker, Lawrence Eagleburger, Warren Christopher, Albright, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice. Alexander Haig was the only one missing from the group.

It was unsure if 61 year-old Clinton would continue her scheduled visit to Italy and Greece after undergoing two hours of surgery to her elbow which was fractured in several places. Clinton fell as she headed for her car, in the basement of the State Department. Officials reported Clinton was on her way for a meeting at the White House.

While President Barak Obama may have been kept waiting on this occasion, it is doubted that his right hand woman will be deterred by any damage to her right elbow. Clinton leads the campaign for ‘women in high places’, as was seen when Clinton was the main speaker for an Emily List luncheon. Emily List is a 24 year-old organization devoted to raising the power and presence of women in politics. Emily List came into being approximately at the same time as when Clinton stepped into the political arena.

Having endured the storms of Clinton-Lewinsky White House scandal, an impeachment, a failed health reform and eight years as First Lady, one can only guess at what really goes on in the State Secretary’s head as she marches one step behind Michelle Obama. One thing is certain, Hilary Rodham Clinton has no intention of sliding away quietly. Ellen Malcolm introduced Clinton at the Emily List luncheon as “An exceptional figure in American life and a powerful role model for women for our country and for the world".
