New Hal Leonard Website Now Live

Complete Redesign of www.halleonard.com Expands Functionality and Makes Interface Even Easier to Use

June 30, 2009 - PRLog -- MILWAUKEE – The world’s largest and most innovative music print publisher, Hal Leonard Corporation unveiled its completely redesigned website this week. More than a year and nearly a quarter-million lines of computer code in the making, the revamped www.halleonard.com offers its million-plus monthly visitors more robust functionality, including greatly expanded searching and browsing capabilities.

The new website is modeled after the Hal Leonard catalogs dealers are accustomed to using. The advanced search page allows for 16 distinct criteria, including new fields such as instrument, voicing, genre, format and level – and even publisher code to easily find items distributed by Hal Leonard.

Visitors can fill in as many or as few search categories as they would like. If searches yield many results, visitors now have the option of searching only within their results to further narrow them down. They can also search by song title, and see all of the products that contain that song.

Musicians and fans interested in seeing the company’s latest offerings can use the site’s many browsing tools. Homepages for each Hal Leonard product category offer dozens of options in pull-down menus. New to the site are also immensely helpful recommendations for products that may be of interest to the searcher, such as other titles by a specific artist, in the same style, or within a certain series.

Visitors can sort their search and browse results three ways: by most popular titles, most recently released titles, or alphabetically. They can also customize the appearance of the site to their preference, picking the number of product results that display per page, and choosing to see large cover art, small cover art or just line-listings with no images. They also have the choice of seeing product descriptions when mousing over covers.

Hal Leonard has expanded the site’s popular Closer Look feature. Hundreds more sample pages and audio & video samples have been added to product detail pages to give visitors a better feel for the company’s publications. There are also complete descriptions of all Hal Leonard series, along with notation examples for each.

The shopping cart and wish list features have stayed on the site. Using the cart, visitors can buy their desired items via their preferred music retailers – either online or at brick & mortar stores. The wish list helps visitors keep track of the products they’d like to purchase. They can either transfer the items into their shopping cart, or email their list to friends, relatives, or teachers.

Press releases, job listings, a calendar of events, and a copyright FAQ page remain on halleonard.com, as does the company’s corporate history and profile, and a password-protected link to the Hal Leonard Dealer Access website.

Comments Hal Leonard President Larry Morton, “With a catalog of more than 120,000 publications, website navigability is crucial. We’ve listened to our dealers, teachers and site visitors, and incorporated their suggestions for a better site. Our programmers and marketing team have devised an intuitive, simple-to-use, industry-leading site that we’re very proud of.”
