The Bay Area's Voices In Harmony To Compete In International Choral Competition

World-renowned Bay Area recording artist Voices in Harmony to represent California in International Choral Competition July 3, 2009
 
June 29, 2009 - PRLog -- SAN JOSE, Calif.  -- Voices in Harmony, Northern California’s Premier Men’s A Cappella Chorus, is making final preparations to represent the State of California in the 2009 International Choral Competition of the Barbershop Harmony Society to be held on Friday, July, 3, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.  The competition pits the top 30 choruses from around the world and each will be vying for one of the coveted top 5 medals.  

All contest sessions are open to the public and tickets are available at www.etix.com or at the Honda Center box office prior to each performance.  The competition will also be broadcast live on-line.  Webcast details and information is available at www.barbershop.org/webcast.aspx.

Upon their return from the July competition, Voices in Harmony will travel to Russia and will be one of three groups representing the United States at the 10th Annual Russian Barbershop Festival in St Petersburg, August 16-25.  Voices in Harmony also will perform several concerts in the Bay Area in October and round out the year with their memorable annual holiday concert on Saturday, December 12 at the California Theatre in downtown San Jose.  Concert and ticket information is available online at www.vihchorus.org  or by calling 877-684-3844.

Founded in 2006 and based in San Jose, California, Voices in Harmony is an award-winning, all volunteer, 90+ voice male chorus and is known for its a cappella harmonies and musical excellence.  Under the masterful direction of Dr. Greg Lyne, Voices in Harmony has rapidly become one of the finest a cappella choruses in the world and after only two years after their formation, earned a 3rd Place Bronze Medal at the 2008 International Choral Competition of the Barbershop Harmony Society held in Nashville last summer.  

A 501 (C)(3) organization, the chorus is self-sustaining through gifts, performance fees, admissions to shows, and sales of recordings and merchandise.  

Voices in Harmony’s first recording, Now & Then - Popular American Music from Six Decades of Classics, was released in the fall of 2008.  The recording was nominated for the Best Barbershop Album category of The Contemporary A Cappella Society’s 2009 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards  (The CARA’s).
