Surgical Friends Foundation Launches with Two Extreme Cases - First Set for July 15th

Trio of Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeons Collaborate to Find and Deliver Medical Care to people in Need in US and Around the Globe
By: Surgical Friends Foundation

June 27, 2009 - PRLog -- (BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF) DRS. KAMI PARSA, JAY CALVERT, and  ANDREW P. ORDON announce the formation of their foundation, Surgical Friends Foundation  with the granting of the 501c3 IRS status.  The trio of renowned plastic surgery experts has joined in an unprecedented collaboration to deliver results in difficult, life-threatening functional reconstructive cases, which other high level plastic surgeons turn down.  Their vast network of resources includes Fortune 500 company CEOs, high-profile actors, motion picture and television producers, as well as, a respected network of philanthropists and physicians.  The foundation’s response to the lack of healthcare in developing countries and even in our own nation where 45 million Americans* have no coverage is outlined in three initial cases that follow.

Surgical Friends foundation’s mission is to unite philanthropists, reconstructive surgeons, and the patients that need surgery but cannot afford it, due to lack of access or financial difficulties. As plastic surgeons with sub-specialty expertise, they are well-suited to perform these life altering surgeries. Most of the foundations patients have physical deformities that are congenital, post-traumatic or acquired in nature.

EYES WIDE SHUT: ELENA ONLY WANTS TO CLOSE HER EYES TO SLEEP
ELENA, a 22-year-old female from the Republic of Moldova (formerly Romania), was born with an oculofacial deformity that has left her with severe physical and emotional scars.  After having had six surgeries in Europe she was told there was nothing more that could be done. In addition to her facial deformity she has problems closing her eyes completely and breathing through her nose.  She is currently in Los Angeles and scheduled for surgery at the Surgical Friends Beverly Hills facilities on June 17th.

SEARCH FOR ANDRESSA:  SURGEONS’ PASSION TAKES FORM OF INTERNATIONAL TREK
ANDRESSA is a seven-year-old Brazilian girl with fibrous dysplasia whose bones in her face have become so large that her poverty stricken father is using her severe disfigurement as a source of income by begging on the streets. At this time he is not consenting to her having surgery. Abnormal bone growth in the face prevents her from being able eat or speak normally. If no surgery is performed she will not survive more than a few years.   Dr. Parsa will be traveling to Brazil this summer to locate the young girl and plead with the family to release her to the foundation for the life saving surgeries she’ll need.

THESE THREE:  TEAM OF SURGEONS HAS COMBINED STRATOSPHERIC PEDIGREE
Of the three prolific surgeons, many are familiar with Dr. Ordon from the syndicated show, ‘THE DOCTORS,” but outside the medical community, few know that Dr. Parsa’s pedigree ranks him at the top in a very small field of oculoplastic surgeons in the U.S. or that Dr. Calvert’s innovative “rib graft” technique is the hallmark of revisional rhinoplasty. Their expertise in sub-specialties of plastic surgery allows them to deliver the highest quality care to all patients.

The Foundation’s founding members are frequent lecturers and keynote speakers at international surgery summits, book authors, and textbook contributors.  All have penned arresting studies in medical journals, instructed at top universities, and commentated on trends and findings in the print and broadcast media. Even more important than any of these accolades is the consideration they give to the quality of human life and the importance of access for everyone in need.
