June 25, 2009 - PRLog -- The Brand X winning prize is to screen “Dita…” at the Los Angeles Film Festival Fri. 6/26. http://iambrandx.ning.com/video/DITA-Art-versus-Commerce

Brand X, a news, arts & culture weekly publication and on-line blog sponsored the short film contest in mid-May offering the chance to bring visibility to unrecognized talent.

“Brand X is as much about modern media -- the intersection of art and technology -- as it is about the stories that are produced via those mediums…” said Deborah Vankin, editor of Brand X. "We're excited about fostering the talent of filmmakers… giving them the opportunity to be seen online and at the LA Film Festival."

“Dita…” is more than a short film, song and music video. It is a tough commentary on commerce vs. community. Singing in Spanish, Alex Au Dio hard-delivers the message that we are being force-fed by vast corporations demanding mindless materialism. The film was made to offer hope to counteract this influence by building a cross-cultural community of artists that support each other to achieve their creative dreams.

Alex Celemin summarizes, "We (Alex Au Dio) are community actionists. We sponsor live concerts, produce films, music and other cultural media to ‘communitize instead of commoditize’ our creative work. The idea is to foster a culture that sustains the artist not just associated corporations.”

Brian Alan Patterson adds, “Our community of artists grows as we honor the creative soul without judgment. Nothing means more to us than authentic creativity nurtured by a supportive community.”

“Dita” was picked by judges Nic Harcourt, former tastemaker at influential KCRW radio plus new media visionaries, Timothy Shey, Next New Networks.com co-founder and head of entertainment and Josh Rubin, editor-in-chief of CoolHunting.com.
