Open source technology used to support Obama's online campaign now commercially available in Europe

Ibuildings, Europe’s leading PHP authority, has announced a strategic partnership with SilverStripe, publishers of one of the world’s most powerful Open Source CMS solutions. Enterprises now have access to expert SilverStripe support in Europe.

June 24, 2009 - PRLog -- Since its launch two years ago, SilverStripe has become a global favourite content management system.

It is a free, modern open source platform used to construct and manage websites, web applications and intranets. Since its launch, it has been downloaded over 150,000 times.

Last year, SilverStripe (http://www.silverstripe.org) powered the US Democratic Party’s National Convention website, streaming live speeches by Barack Obama and serving 3.2 billion hits over 96 hours.

Ivo Jansch, CTO of Ibuildings, explains: "We've seen SilverStripe rapidly gaining momentum in various environments, especially enterprise websites. Many organisations are up to their third or fourth CMS product, and are migrating to SilverStripe because it is more user-friendly for those who manage websites. It is also architecturally easier to customise, upgrade and extend."

"Organisations tell us that the existing technology that runs their websites and intranets is hard to use, awkward to extend, and expensive to upgrade. They're happy to find a solution to this, and given the economic climate, happier still when they know it is open source."

The only thing that has been missing until now – really important for mission-critical web applications – is support by a professional company based in Europe. That is what Ibuildings is now bringing to the market.

"Our ultimate goal is to ensure we can always serve our clients in the best possible way – offering them support and expertise in the latest technologies suited to the special demands of the enterprise. Therefore we are delighted to add SilverStripe to our growing portfolio of supported PHP CMS products."

Creating Partnerships with Leading Technology Providers

The announcement marks another important stage in Ibuildings’ mission to strengthen the pool of PHP web development resources in Europe.

It follows closely on their launch of the PHP Centre of Expertise, which has already delivered techPortal (http://techportal.ibuildings.com), Ibuildings’ knowledge base for sharing their expertise with the wider PHP development community.

Ibuildings does not favour any particular framework or CMS, but rather aims at compiling a strong portfolio of best-of-breed technologies. An overview of these technologies can be found on the Ibuildings website at http://www.ibuildings.co.uk.

"This partnership is a strong start to growing our global partner network," explains Yair Spitzer, CEO of Ibuildings. "But we consider this to be just the beginning – we are negotiating with other potential partners and expect to make more announcements over the next few months."
