June 23, 2009 - PRLog -- This is the viewpoint of Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys, a national supplier of payroll, HR, Time & Attendance and Access Control solutions.

Management at the company hosted a group of learners from Wendywood High School and Alexandra High School to mark the recent country-wide Cell C ‘Take a Girl Child to Work Day’ initiative.

The learners were given a comprehensive tour of the company and separated into smaller groups to ensure that everyone was presented with a close-up view of each silo and division of the business.

There was an opportunity to engage with staff and ask questions about duties, responsibilities, opportunities for growth within positions and other factors that influence the current workplace dynamic.

Accsys is focused on the development and implementation of software that is integrated into a client’s infrastructure to enhance the management of business critical areas such as payroll, Human Resources, time & attendance, access control and biometric technology integration.

The company is national and enjoys a significant presence in Africa.

In her formal presentation to the learners, Schroenn offered her audience some advice about the corporate world and what it means to be a woman in business.

Schroenn made reference to a number of aspects including social networking, stereotypes in business, social engineering, leadership and management styles as well as professional behaviour.

“What is important is to always be the very best you can be, to lift while you grow – in other words, as you excel, to help and encourage others. Look for role models in business and work hard,” said Schroenn.

Learners were presented with a gift pack to remember the occasion and were delighted with the day and what it meant for the decision making process as far as career direction is concerned.

“It was brilliant to be here and have this opportunity to speak to Accsys staff and management. The company went to a lot of trouble, and we were able to experience various aspects of the operation hands-on, which was great. It was really worthwhile and valuable,” said Natasha Phiri, a Matriculant from Wendywood High School.

Pearl Williams, a learner from Alexandra High School, added, “The day was really very successful. Accsys is a really great company and the people are very friendly and fun to be with.”
