Tom grew up in Cheltenham, England where his early academic interests ranged over all the sciences. It was not until attending the University of Wales that his real passion for engineering emerged and especially that of electronic engineering. His passion guided him to graduation with a Masters degree in only 4 years. His thesis work covers power grids and related issues, the study of which will prove invaluable to our team as we look to expand on our burgeoning “Single Wire” technology. Tom quickly found employment at Motorola where he worked on numerous projects designing cellular network equipment. These projects were quite varied and covered the entire gamut from pico-cellular radio heads to macro-cellular base stations. He’s worked with GSM, UMTS and more recently WiMAX, all in an effort to develop and deliver more reliable voice and faster data services. His knowledge of communications protocols, industry standards and real world experience with the problems that can arise, will stand him in good stead as LBT branches out and delivers more varied and diverse solutions to the needs of the Solid-State Lighting industry.
