Karl Strauss Still Bringing Home The Gold

June 19, 2009 - PRLog -- Karl Strauss Brewing Company is giving new meaning to the phrase “Golden Years.”  The company is celebrating their 20th Anniversary with winning six brewing medals, including two Gold Medals at the Los Angeles County Fair.  The company’s flagship beer, Karl Strauss Amber Lager, placed first in the Vienna Style Lager category, while their Conquistador Doppelbock won the German Style Strong Bock class.  It’s fitting that in their 20th year in the craft beer industry, Karl Strauss would find success with the beer that started it all, as well as with one of their edgier specialties.  “Karl Strauss Amber Lager has always been a favorite because it’s an extremely flavorful, session beer.  As a brewer, it’s cool to see the trend of bigger beers gaining a following and I think our Conquistador delivers,” says Brewmaster Paul Segura.  

In addition to taking home two Gold’s at the LA Fair, the company was also awarded a Silver medal for Woodie Gold and a Bronze medal for their Red Trolley Ale.  In San Diego, Karl Strauss won Silver in the Amber Hybrid category for their Red Trolley Ale and Bronze for their Amber Lager.  “There are some great breweries competing at the LA and San Diego Fairs and to medal with that kind of competition is awesome,” says Segura.  

Karl Strauss is proud to be pouring award winning Red Trolley Ale at the San Diego Fair’s 3rd Annual San Diego International Beer Festival on June 26-27, 2009.  The Festival includes 300 entries from 17 countries and 20 states, including a strong presence from local breweries.  Admission to the festival includes unlimited 1 ounce tasters and the chance to mingle with the brewers.  Karl Strauss will also be pouring their new Tower 10 IPA, and crowd favorites Pin Tail Pale Ale and Windansea Wheat.  For more info on the San Diego International Beer Festival visit http://www.sdfair.com.
