Scott McDougall is a self-taught artist who has been working professionally since 1972. While growing up in Humboldt County in northern California, Scott started surfing and has had a fascination with waves ever since. His first commissions were in 1970 creating hand drawn and lettered concert posters, which he still produces to this day, using many of the same techniques.
Scott's work has been featured in books and periodicals such as: Communication Arts, Art Direction, Step By Step Graphics, Airbrush Action, The Art of Modern Rock, Some People Can't Surf - the Graphic Design of Art Chantry, Details, Rolling Stone, Guitar Player, Guitar World, Request, Masters of Rock, Texas Monthly, The Golden Road, UCLA Magazine, Seattle Weekly, Washington Magazine & the Rocket. For the past 2 years, he has been designing and illustrating cd packaging for the Grateful Dead.
The suite of paintings currently on exhibit was inspired by a recent trip to coastal Mexico.
