Green A/C Grilles Move the Eco-Friendly A/C Movement Closer to True Green Air Conditioning

June 12, 2009 - PRLog -- According to company officials, the Brooklyn New York based custom grille manufacturer has developed a new “green” HVAC grille. “We are very excited to join the growing number of environmentally conscious manufacturers by offering an aluminum bar grille made of 50% pre-consumer aluminum,” said company president, Anthony Giumenta.

Architectural Grille normally uses brass, bronze, stainless steel and aluminum to construct their popular bar grilles. According to Giumenta, aluminum is a strong, durable, lightweight metal that is not susceptible to corrosion or the damaging effects of extreme cold or heat. As a result it is widely used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and in many other common building products. Aluminum is also a fully recyclable material that can be used over and over again, without any loss in quality.

“Architectural Grill has teamed up with Bonnell Aluminum, makers of aluminum extrusions for the building and construction market. They’ll be supplying us with reclaimed aluminum that would otherwise have been wasted. We will then use this material to manufacture our most popular and versatile product, the AG-10 B Frame grille. This grille can be custom made in any size using this reclaimed material.”

The new “green grilles” will be manufactured with the standard (1/4”) spacing or optional custom spacing, and made with Architectural Grille’s signature weld-lock construction method, as opposed to press fitting.

“Press-fit grilles are interlocked together and have a higher tendency of coming apart over time. As with all of our grilles, the new aluminum “green grilles” will be weld-locked. That means we actually weld each of the cross bars to the linear bar, for maximum durability and strength,” Giumenta explained.

Architectural Grille’s new “green grille” is now in the process of receiving certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable building design and construction. The USGBC is also the developer of the LEED (Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. USGBC certification would mean that projects within 500 miles of New York City may qualify to receive LEED credits.
