Rockwell & FGI Presents The Fashion Swap

June 10, 2009 - PRLog -- “The Fashion Swap is the first major fashion event of its kind in the country. We aim to increase awareness of sustainable fashion while helping fashionistas to indulge with a clean conscience. It's our little way of helping the fashion industry reduce its carbon footprint.  Every year, nearly a ton of clothing goes to landfills. This waste emits toxic fumes and creates more carbon dioxide, helping accelerate climate change, “ says  Kaye Pineda, Event Director of Fashion Group International.

Participants will bring clothes and accessories to scheduled Fashion Drops on 11 June from 9:00AM – 5:00PM and 12 June from 9:00AM – 1:00PM at The Loft, 38/F The Manansala, Hidalgo Drive cor. Estrella St, Rockwell Center, Makati City. Points awarded will be used for guilt-free shopping at The Fashion Swap. Only people who participate at a Fashion Drop will be invited to The Fashion Swap.

“All the major brands are talking about green issues right now. Consumers are also becoming increasingly selective about their choice of clothing, in light of climate change. Good design is no longer enough for the discerning fashionista. At The Fashion Swap, we have a chance to see which brands really walk their talk, ” said Pineda.

Several designers and brands are participating in this event, such as: Tint, Carbon, Sapato Manila, Eairth, The Body Shop, Paul & Joe, Aranaz, John Herrera, Paul Herrera, Cor Sunglao, Dashing Diva, Beauty Bar, Off-Price and Jurlique.

Attendees will be treated to free makeovers, styling advice, and raffle prizes. Part of the proceeds from the event will go to World Vision and One La Salle Scholarship Endowment Fund. Leftover items will be donated to the Sanctuario San Antonio Parish Outreach Program.

The Rockwell Club is an exclusive leisure and sports club which boasts of world-class facilities and is situated right in the enclave of The Rockwell Center.

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization which needs 9000 child sponsors for 9000 children in 2009.

One La Salle Scholarship Endowment Fund aims to provide 1 scholar for every 5 regular students or 20% of total enrolment in all 17 La Salle schools in the Philippines.
