Follow on Google News | The "High Heeled Art" of Mark SchwartzShoe Designer, Mark Schwartz, transforms every woman's obsession, the high heeled stiletto, into fabulous works of art.
By: Cheryl Pastor An accomplished shoe designer and artist for over 20+ years, Mark Schwartz was mentored by 1980's Pop Art Icon, Andy Warhol, who greatly influenced the paintings we see today. Schwartz also served during the 1980's as assistant designer and then creative director to designer extraordinaire, Roger Vivier. "I think that I discovered shoes were my passion through Vivier and Warhol. They both pushed me and believed in me." After five years with Vivier, Schwartz moved on to design collections for major ready to wear houses in both America and Europe. This set the stage for the creation of his own collections for various other designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Balenciaga. Born in New York City, Schwartz's artistic renderings of shoes have graced the walls of clients around the world. Oprah, at one time, even referred to the talented Schwartz as her favorite shoe designer and commissioned the artist to create custom shoes and boots for her 50th birthday. The well of his own creativity serves as Schwartz's inspiration for many of his colorful and brilliantly executed paintings. "Well, a lot of my ideas come from shoes I have already designed in the past. I look for creative ways to approach them and present them—that has always been my idea!" The artist wants the next phase of his career to place his art in hotels and other public spaces. "I am working on that now," says Schwartz. "I will always look for new ways to develop my artwork. I really get a special charge when someone likes my work or purchases it, that never goes away!" Mark Schwartz's paintings range in price from $300.00 to $6000.00.
