Land of the Lost is an American comedy film based on the 1974 TV series of the same name. The film is directed by Brad Silberling and stars Will Ferrell. Production of the film began in March 2008. It was originally scheduled to be released on July 17, 2009 but the release date was pushed forward to June 5, 2009 to avoid competition with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The film grossed $7.378 million on its June 5 opening day, and was #3 at the box office. Land of the Lost finished its opening weekend in third place, behind Up and The Hangover with a total of $19.5 million, making this Will Ferrell's worst summer opening. The score to Land of the Lost was composed by Michael Giacchino, who recorded his score with an 88-piece ensemble of the Hollywood Studio Symphony and a 35-person choir. On May 10, it was also announced by Dave Mustaine on TheLiveLine that some music from Megadeth would appear in the movie.
