Y&R Still Winning New Business During Economic Slump

It is still possible to gain new business during a time when many marketing budgets are being slashed

June 8, 2009 - PRLog -- The theory that brands need to continue to invest in advertising during tough economic climates rings true with Y&R Cape Town after its’ latest additions to its’ client base.

Within the last month the agency has won two new accounts, namely Shimansky, a premium South African jewellery brand, and Vuka Scooters, a relatively new South African motorcycle brand looking to expand their business and boost their presence.

According to Alan Schreiber, Managing Director of Y&R Cape Town, “From a marketing perspective, recessions are ideal times for marketing persuasion. Our clients have realised the need to recognise that the current state of economic climate can be an opportunity, as well as a challenge.”

Executive Creative Director: Y&R Cape Town adds, “Recessions clear the stage and create a platform for new ideas and we are mindful of this. We’re conscious of the financial restrictions, which offer my team a greater challenge to conceptualise unusual ideas within a manageable budget.”

The agency is confident that these two new accounts set the tone for more new business wins during the course of the rest of the year.
