Follow on Google News | Derby-centric Arts Project Invites The Public To Feature On A Musical Album With Global Appeal.DUCK is a charitable album project featuring leading dance music producers. DUCK is inviting the public to visit Derby QUAD from 6pm on 20th June for free cocktails, to watch the album artwork created and to contribute towards two interludes.
By: Clive Astin The open event at Quad Derby on 20th June will see artists with nationally acclaimed live arts organisation, Subism, creating the artwork for the album on four 6ft boards, spelling the word DUCK. In addition, members of the public are invited to contribute sounds and instruments of their choice to be guaranteed a feature on the first of two album interludes. For a second, they will be asked to recite a witty, short story about Derby, the results of which will be edited to feature each individual on one line each. ”This project is a great way of celebrating and showcasing some of the rich and diverse, world-class talent that we have sitting right beneath our noses”, commented project organiser, Clive Astin of M8MC Music, “and there’s no better way of doing so than by involving the local population at its flagship arts centre, QUAD, and donating all album sales proceeds to charity in the process”, added Astin. On its involvement with the project, QUAD’s Marketing Manager, Adam Buss commented: “QUAD is delighted to be part of such an exciting collaborative musical project. The artists on the album are both incredibly high quality and also local and reflect QUAD’s intentions of representing both local people and the best in the world of the arts. DUCK brings together artists, musicians, DJ’s and producers from all over Derby and I am sure the result will be something they can all be proud of and that will make an impact globally via the innovative distribution of the album via the internet”. Following the event, artwork and the interlude recordings will be edited and made available on the DUCK website, along with video and images from the night. The album tracks will then be mastered and retailed on iTunes and most leading digital stores from August 21st. *end* Additional information DUCK The DUCK project was conceived by Clive Astin of M8MC Music who was seeking a vehicle to help to propel the artistic careers of talented music producers from the Derbyshire region. With some input from his peers, the project took shape in to the charitable venture that it is now, helping to communicate messaging for Macmillan and Derby QUAD, whilst offering them financial assistance from all sales proceeds.
