19th Annual Mental Illness Awareness Golf Tournament
Friends of Northeast Florida State Hospital are hosting the 19th Annual Mental Illness Awareness Golf Tournament on October 5th, 2009 at the Country Club of Orange Park, 2525 Country Club Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073
The golf tournament goal is to introduce the citizens of Florida about the Northeast Florida State Hospital (NEFSH) and to heighten the awareness of its mission. Promoting the importance of mental health as essential to overall health. To educate the need of mental health services. To help provide service enhancements for treatment not funded by the state. To promote the National Mental Illness Awareness Week and to emphasize the early recognition and treatment of mental illness.
Some facts about mental illness: Mental disorders are common. An estimated 26% of Americans ages 18 and older suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.
Even though mental disorders are wide spread in the population, the main burden of illness is concentrated in a smaller proportion, about 6% who suffer from a serious mental illness.
Mental disorders are the leading cause of disability in the US and Canada for ages 15 through 44. Many people suffer from more than one disorder at a time.
The burden of mental illness on health and productivity in the US and internationally has long been underestimated. Recent data reveals that mental illness, including suicide, accounts for over 15% of the burden of disease in established market economies.
Your contribution is a charity contribution. The Friends of NEFSH, Inc is designated a charity organization as a 501(c) (3). The mission of NEFSH is to provide comprehensive mental health treatment services to ensure timely transition to the community.

The Tournament will be on the 5th of October, 2009 at the Country Club of Orange Park. Registration and breakfast starts at 7:30am. Shotgun Start at 9 am. Lunch following play.
The tournament is limited to 144 players. The format is Captain's Choice: Team handicaps are determined by totaling the four players' handicaps and dividing by 8. Handicap limit is 30 per player.
A tax deductable contribution of $100.00 per person. The fee covers: Green Fees and Cart, Tee Bag, Continental Breakfast, Door Prizes, Lunch, Snacks and Non-Alcoholic Beverages. * Other beverages will be available for purchase from the Country Club of Orange Park.
Trophies will be awarded for Low Gross 1st, 2nd and 3rd place net, hole-in-one prizes, drawings, proximity prizes and contest prizes.
You may register as a team of four players or individually. Individual entries will be grouped in teams of four players by the tournament staff.
