May 31, 2009 - PRLog -- Another raw album release, Tim O'Rourke's debut CD with Blues Farm Records is available June 01, 2009. Backyard Dreams showcases Tim's singing and stories. Built on decades of performance and living, it is immediately obvious that no young whipper-snapper could write these songs, let alone sing them with the depth and sincerity that Tim O'Rourke does.

The CD has 13 songs, and from the moment you hear the jambalaya mix of Electric Music, you'll know this album can groove you. A strange thing perhaps, for a folksy troubadour, but Tim is steeped in rock, country and blues as much as anything else. His influences are broad and unfold themselves to the listener song by song.

The official website, http://timorourke.webs.com rightly has the feel of the southwest. Tim lives with his wife Laurie in the hills north of Albuquerque. The website... all loaded with tidbits for fans, and devoted to music enthusiasts has samples all of the new songs, and they are available for individual download via Amazon.com and at the website.

The album was recorded over the course of two days at Blues Farm Studios west of Clovis, New Mexico. Tim handled most of the work himself, except for a few leads and some drum work by Sansietch. The result is a true feel for what Tim sounds like live. A seasoned performer, Tim's CD comes with few overdubs, and it is evident that few are needed. When you hear Tim's struggling breath at times, you know he's given you all he can in that performance. It is refreshingly Indie.

The CD is issued by Blues Farm Records. http://bluesfarm.webs.com.

Backyard Dreams' is a journey through the realities of love and the American life. Backyard Dreams, the title track, is a lazy wandering idea of an American dream. Tim dreamed of nature and family, and a peaceful lifestyle. The heavy bass lines are Tim's work, creating a slow, steady flow, maybe down the Pecos River? Cause Guys You Ain't My Uncle Anymore is a rousing monologue about the politics of greed and war, not unlike a Dylan protest. It's simple, powerful and honest. There are many such songs. Where's The American Dream Anymore? Asks a relevant question: if Americans dream of peace, why does our government rush to war? Why are we not building the America we truly want?

Everybody Loses could be taken in the same light, asking the individual why they're not trying to make their lives better. Such A Beautiful Liar is a love song only someone who has been there can sing. It's ease paints a picture of pure emotion. The melody is uplifting and lets the listener see that it is okay, the lover is, of course, happy to be trapped. Wait 'Til The Morning carries a sadness, and also a touch of hope. Tim's experience can be counted on when he tells us things will look better in the morning. I Still Feel You is the perfect example of Tim's emotional depth. The singing is weighty, it comes from deep within somewhere and that honesty is hearable.

Tim O'Rourke fans will be glad to get an album of clarity and simplicity. When Tim sings You Who Were There it's much more than a tribute. It's a painful reminder of the cost of our freedom. Maybe young men are sent to war because they don't yet know that cost?
