May 28, 2009 - PRLog -- Smokeshop Magazine, a leading tobacco retailing trade publication, has been named “An Official Publication of the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association” (IPCPR).

“Smokeshop  is extremely pleased to have received this endorsement from the tobacco industry’s premier retailing trade association,” said Robert Lockwood, President of Lockwood Trade Journal Co., Inc., the magazine’s Manhattan-based publisher. “We have been a long-time member of IPCPR [formerly the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America / RTDA], and we look forward to extending Smokeshop’s reach to the association’s full membership while publicizing IPCPR’s important legislative efforts to our even wider audience of tobacco retailers.”

Joe Rowe, Executive Director of IPCPR, said the association welcomed the mutually beneficial arrangement as it works to protect the rights and business interests of retail tobacco stores as its primary focus in legislative and taxation lobbying efforts. Smokeshop will provide the IPCPR an additional platform for communicating critical industry positions to the retail trade.

“The media plays an integral role in today’s society—it has the power to motivate, influence, and move individuals and groups alike,” said Rowe. “Having a second trade publication will help us in spreading our message and enlisting even more tobacconists to join the fight in protecting their industry.”
