Parisian Masquerade "Celebration of Life" Gala Theme Announced at 2009 PVDA Ride for Life

Upper Marlboro, MD—The Potomac Valley Dressage Association (PVDA) has announced the Parisian Masquerade “A Celebration of Life” as their 2009 theme for the June 27 Gala at the PVDA Ride for Life’s Dancing Horse Challenge at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD to benefit The Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center. 2008 U.S. Olympian, Debbie McDonald will be this year's celebrity guest speaker.

Tickets are available through June 19 at $100 per person and include dinner, drinks and dancing, as well as VIP seating for the 6:30 p.m. Dancing Horse Challenge where International-level equestrians perform dressage musical freestyles. McDonald will give a special talk and The Unruly Blues band will play after the performance.  They will be joined by Challenge riders throughout the evening for meet and greets.

This year’s Gala guests and equestrian performers include fellow Olympic Team members, Courtney King-Dye and Michael Barisone, as well as Betsy Steiner and breast cancer survivor, Cathy Morelli.

The Gala will be decorated with the charm and beauty of one of Europe’s most intriguing cities, Paris, while celebrating “Masquerade”. Dress for this affair is black tie optional, but any level of formality is welcome. The PVDA only asks that attendees join fully in the festivities by wearing their finest masks and costumes, with prizes going to best costume and mask presented by McDonald.

Appetizers and a cash bar will be available from 6:30 p.m. (The start of the Dancing Horse Challenge) until 11:45 p.m. (The end of the Gala) with dinner served after the Challenge ends.  A lovely meal will be prepared for the gala and wine will be served with dinner. The Unruly Blues will play during and after dinner, with dancing encouraged. For online tickets visit www.pvdarideforlife.org and click on “Gala” or by mail, contact Jeannette Bair at 443-691-0390 or jeannettebair@hotmail.com. Half of the $100 cost is tax deductible.

Now in its sixth year, the PVDA Ride for Life™ has already raised over $161,000 in rider donations and sponsor contributions for The Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Center.

The show is held at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD outside of Washington, D.C. and hosts over 200 competing horses.
