Joan of Arc’s Feast Day Celebrated at MaidOfHeaven.com
The Feast Day for Joan of Arc is May 30th which is the anniversary of her death. In order to celebrate her life on her special day MaidOfHeaven.com has set up a special page containing historic paintings and eyewitness accounts of her final moments.
Why is Saint Joan of Arc still remembered today? Joan’s life was one that contained great triumph as well as great tragedy. Given command of the French armies at only seventeen years of age she was able to completely reverse a war that had been going on for almost 100 years that the French were about to lose. In spite of saving her country, Joan was ultimately captured by her enemies and burned as a heretic because of their great fear of her as a leader. The story of Joan’s life has inspired people down through the ages with her example of bravery and self sacrifice. Sir Winston Churchill, the legendary leader of Britain in WWII, once wrote that: "Joan was a being so uplifted from the ordinary run of mankind that she finds no equal in a thousand years." Mark Twain, the great American writer, described her as “perhaps the only entirely unselfish person whose name has a place in profane history."
