Former Committeeman Launches longvalleypolitics.com, a new blog for Long Valley, New Jersey
Former Washington Township Committeeman Kevin M. Nedd has launched longvalleypolitics.com to provide informed political commentary covering Long Valley, New Jersey.
By: Kevin M. Nedd
In 2005 as an Independent, Mr. Nedd became the first non-Republican to win a seat on the Washington Township Committee since 1978. His decision to enter politics was driven by an infamous 11% municipal tax increase imposed by an all Republican Township Committee. Over the next three years, Mr. Nedd efforts as a Committeeman drove down the growth of municipal taxes to below 3%.
In late 2007, Mr. Nedd joined the Morris County for Obama grassroots organization as its Co-Chair and ran on the Democrat ticket in the 2008 Primary and General Elections. As some predicted, running as a Democrat in Republican dominated Washington Township didn’t advance his political career. While Obama’s overall electoral fate did not rest on the strict party line voting Washington Township voters, Mr. Nedd's did. Nevertheless, He is proud to have served as the local “anchor” man on the President's ticket.
Longvalleypolitics.com provides a forum for Mr. Nedd to provide political insights from the perspective of a former local elected official.
