Imation Expands Portfolio Of Apollo External Hard Drives For Demanding Users

May 22, 2009 - PRLog -- Imation Europe announces the expansion of its Apollo portfolio of external hard drives with the Apollo Expert and Apollo Pro.

For laptop users, the 2.5-inch Apollo Expert UX offers 320GB and 500GB of capacity in a pocket-sized drive. The 2.5-inch drive is covered in a protective removable skin to prevent scratches and abrasions. The 3.5-inch Apollo Pro UX provides desktop users with capacity of up to 1.0TB.

“Compatible with Mac and PC computers these drives are for the high volume data users who need greater speed and reliability,” said Alet Jentink, Product Manager Consumer Storage EMEA, Imation.  

Both drives include integrated stands for vertical or horizontal usage. Other features include low capacity and data activity indicator lights for easy identification of data processes and a built-in power save mode for energy conservation.

In addition, the Apollo Expert UX and Apollo Pro UX offer one-touch backup sync buttons allowing simple, automatic backup using the included software. The drives are compatible with specific applications including Apple Time Machine.

The plug and play format enables users to transfer data from any computer with a USB 1.1 or 2.0 port. Both drives include an Imation designed controller board offering higher reliability for demanding users.

The Apollo Expert UX 2.5 was winner of The Art of Storage Award 2009 at the Eighth Annual Storage Visions Conference (partner program to the 2009 International CES) in Las Vegas. The drive was recognised to have the best-in-class aesthetics, ease of use and design.

The Imation Apollo Expert UX and Apollo Pro UX  is available now in Europe with prices starting at £100 for the Apollo Expert UX and £122 for the Apollo Pro UX (all prices include VAT).
