Influential Christian Leader and Media Expert Dr. Frank Wright Joins Coral Ridge Ministries’ Board



Fort Lauderdale, FL (May 15, 2009) – Influential Christian leader Dr. Frank Wright has joined the Board of Directors of Christian media outreach Coral Ridge Ministries.

Dr. Wright, who heads the National Religious Broadcasters, a 1,400-member international association of Christian communicators, has had a longstanding relationship with Coral Ridge Ministries. He served as the founding director of the organization’s D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship, an evangelical outreach to Capitol Hill now under the auspices of Evangelism Explosion International, and has had a more than 25-year affiliation with the ministries of Dr. D. James Kennedy, the late founder of Coral Ridge Ministries.



As a board member, Wright expressed excitement at the opportunity to help Coral Ridge Ministries fulfill its threefold mission of using media to share the Gospel, educate Christians, and reform cultures for Christ.



“My work as president and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters has given me years of practical experience and involvement in the broad range of issues that constitute Christian media,” Wright said. “Much of that work focuses on the landscape of future challenges and opportunities facing Christian program producers and broadcasters. By the grace of God, I hope to bring some of that experience and perspective to serve Coral Ridge Ministries as it continues to seek ways to maximize the effectiveness of its ministry efforts.”



In the past, Wright has warned about the threat to religious freedom and free speech posed by the Fairness Doctrine and “hate crime” legislation. He has made several appearances on the Coral Ridge Hour, Coral Ridge Ministries’ nationally televised weekly program, to inform audiences about these issues.



“Today’s Christian media ministries face growing threats in legislative, legal, and regulatory arenas.  These efforts, if ultimately successful, will constrain, restrict, and ultimately criminalize the unfettered proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” he said. “The defense of our faith necessitates bold action, unyielding commitment, and absolute confidence in Him who called us to fight these battles.”



“We are delighted to have Dr. Wright join the board of directors of Coral Ridge Ministries,” said Jennifer Kennedy Cassidy, a Coral Ridge Ministries board member and the daughter of Dr. Kennedy. “We know that his vast experience in the Christian broadcasting industry will aid us to bring biblical truth to our nation and the world.”
