Memorial Middle School Multicultural Day celebrates different cultures and brings awareness by having local groups from the Orlando area perform for the students, as well as the general public. This year’s acts include Bop Gun and Catherine. Bop Gun consists of five young men from different backgrounds and together they have opened up for Virgin recording artist Joss Stone at Hard Rock Live in Orlando and headlined at the Virgin Megastore in Downtown Disney. Catherine, Orlando’s newest Latin teen pop sensation dances hip hop, sings and at just 14 years old has appeared in commercials, TV shows, Mega TV and Discovery Health Channel to name a few.
“We are excited to be a part of this event and believe that it plays an important role within the community and all the students involved,” said James Schoepflin, Executive Director of OHFF. “The performers represent a nice range of ethnicities and it’s what this celebration is all about.”
The Orlando Hispanic Film Festival is a competitive independent film festival and platform that recognizes Hispanic-cultured independent filmmakers from around the world. OHFF also offers educational forums and screenings year round that promote multicultural enrichment and film industry knowledge and support within the community it serves.
