Christofle’s Spring Awakening at Heritage on the Garden

Christofle Opens First Ever Boston Boutique
By: Leslie Fields

May 13, 2009 - PRLog -- This May, Christofle opened the doors to its first ever Boston boutique. Located at the exclusive luxury shopping complex, Heritage on the Garden, Christofle has joined ranks with high-profile neighbors, Escada, St. John, Hermés, Anne Fontaine, Sonia Rykiel, and Jacadi. The new shop is unlike any Christofle boutique in North America in size as well as concept. It is also the first addition to the Christofle family since 2000.

The 1,600 sq ft boutique has made its home at 296 Boylston St, where it sits at the epicenter of the city’s most sophisticated shopping area. It is the largest of the Christofle stores to date and it is also the most remarkable. The new Boston store is an unique, exceptional space for Christofle, distinctive in both size and design.

The new store features Italian-made, chocolate brown and bronze lacquer fixtures, designed to accentuate the beauty of the silver. Sleek new shelving and high ceilings allow for a generous tableau—the ample, uncluttered space both trendy and inviting. Suspended chrome pebbles float like beads of mercury from an aluminum chandelier. A specially-conceived lighting scheme accents Christofle’s silver displays, and the light refracted from the chandelier gives the new space a provocative and modern edge.

For the Christofle client, a special VIP seating area has been created. The area is located next to the flatware displays and furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs so that the most discerning guest can reflect on patterns in comfort.  Additional accoutrements include modern metallic-silver wallpaper and hand-woven, caramel rugs.

“This new location is the largest of all our US boutiques. More than any other store, it will allow us to present a complete range of Christofle,” said Nicolas Krafft, President of Christofle Silver, Inc., US subsidiary. “All of our sterling silver jewelry collections, our hollowware pieces, tabletop, flatware, and specialty hand-made pieces will each have their place in the spotlight. It will show our command of luxury, which is something that Christofle is and has always been recognized for, something we know our Boston clientele will tune into and appreciate.”

“Boston is the natural choice to open our newest and most conceptual store,” continues Mr. Krafft. “We know that our Boston clients admire the prestige and modernity of Christofle while recognizing the importance of its heritage. Christofle is not unlike the city of Boston itself.”

Christofle is situated across from the beautifully-manicured garden area at Heritage on the Garden. Marlon Arbela Restaurant Corp. and the Himmel Hospitality Group are building an exclusive restaurant on the first floor of the complex that will neighbor the new Christofle boutique. Escada will also be undergoing changes at the  “Garden” with a sweeping set of rennovations scheduled for this year.

The new store opening is the first in a series of store openings in 2009 that include prime locations in some of the trendiest and most cosmopolitan cities in the US. The anticipated stores include sought-after spaces in Atlanta and Las Vegas. Also scheduled is a highly anticipated change in location for Christofle’s Houston boutique.

Prior to these new store developments, Christofle initiated an intensive series of renovations for all of its locations in 2007. In the last two years, six U.S. Christofle stores have already undergone renovations, the latest being a 600 sq ft, newly renovated Chicago location that features brand-new custom-made flooring, lighting, and fixtures. Among the recently restored are Christofle’s Chicago, New York, and Bal Harbour boutiques.

The new Boston boutique, plans for impending store openings and continued renovations speak to the company’s continued success. The anticipated openings also reflect Christofle as an enduring leader in the luxury market, as well as the brand’s dedication to elegance, style and sophistication.
