Atlanta’s Rising Youth Basketball Stars Get Ready for ‘GameTime’

May 12, 2009 - PRLog -- This summer, Power of Faith Christian Center launches the First Annual GameTime Basketball Camp, a new camp for Atlanta area girls and boys, ages 8-18. The camp will focus on fundamentals, skills development and sportsmanship and host 250 youth from the Atlanta area.

GameTime Basketball Camp will take place on June 8-12 at Clark Atlanta University’s Vivian W. Henderson Gymnasium. Each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., participants will receive instruction from college coaches and participate in practice sessions, tournaments and other enrichment activities. The camp is designed to help participants challenge themselves, learn more about basketball and improve leadership skills both on and off the court.

“It’s our mission to feed and nurture the soul, the heart and the body,” said Pastor Trevor Berry of Power of Faith Christian Center. “We’re excited to provide a unique opportunity for kids to be active, improve their skills and experience life on one of Atlanta’s most historic college campuses.”

GameTime Basketball Camp is an extension of Power of Faith Christian Center’s recently launched Athletic Ministry. In addition to basketball fundamentals and skills training, the camp will also focus on character and life skills development. Several special guest speakers have been invited to meet and greet the campers, and speak to them on a variety of topics including sportsmanship, determination and perseverance.

“We’re looking forward to partnering with members of our community to positively impact local youth,” said Pastor Berry. “It’s going to be a great time for the kids, the camp staff and our special guests.”

Applications for GameTime Basketball Camp will be accepted starting May 11. The registration fee is $35 and camp fees are $250 for day campers and $350 for overnight campers. Camp fees include all meals, activities for the week and a camp t-shirt and backpack. Full and partial scholarships are available.
