May 11, 2009 - PRLog -- OPTIMAL IDM ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR EDIRECTORY
ENABLING ORGANIZATIONS USING ITS VIRTUAL IDENTITY SERVER TO ACCESS DATA IN EDIRECTORY

Optimal IdM, LLC, a premier Microsoft ISV and Identity & Access (IDA) partner, today announced the release of a Novell eDirectory adapter for its Virtual Identity Server (VIS).  Paired with Optimal IdM’s Virtual Identity Server, the industry’s only .NET Virtual Directory, the eDirectory adapter enables organizations to rapidly deploy applications to users that reside in both Active Directory (AD) and eDirectory. Additionally, the new eDirectory adapter allows organizations looking to migrate from eDirectory to Active Directory with a rapid means of accessing users, groups and data as they perform the often time consuming process of migration.

Many organizations have multiple directories such as Active Directory and eDirectory that contain users, groups and data within their environment.  In the past, in order to deploy applications to all of these users, organizations were forced to deploy additional instances of these applications.  Now, using Optimal IdM’s Virtual Identity Server and its eDirectory adapter, organizations can deploy one instance of enterprise applications, with the Virtual Identity Server providing the application a single real-time joined view of the multiple directories.

In addition to reducing the complexity of an enterprise application deployment across multiple directories, organizations now have a working solution to ease the process of migrating from one network operating system to another.  This solution is made possible by Optimal IdM’s Virtual Identity Server’s ability to provide access to users, groups and data across all of the directories in an enterprise while a migration is planned and performed. This is the bridge that organizations can use to facilitate the migration process.

John Maring, Managing Partner of Optimal IdM, adds, “Another popular use for our new eDirectory adapter solution is for mergers and acquisitions. In particular, when an organization is involved in a merger or acquisition, the organization must choose which network operating system will remain and determine how to get the data from both systems. Our Virtual Identity Server and eDirectory adapter provides a proven solution for these two joined entities that is both cost-effective and easy to use”.
